The 2026 State of Asset Management Report: Amperon and Latitude Intelligence

The 2026 State of Asset Management Report

“Uncertainty” is the single best word to characterize energy markets over the last 12 months. Unpredictable policy changes, escalating trade tensions, and volatile geopolitics are forcing independent power producers to constantly rethink their asset management strategies.

Amperon and Latitude Intelligence conducted a survey of 20 IPPs across the North American market to understand how they are managing this uncertainty. The survey revealed that the time-tested asset optimization strategy of balancing risk and return is at a crossroads, with most IPPs admitting that they are no longer confident that their strategy will be effective for the rest of the decade.

Despite these headwinds, the survey uncovered a number of opportunities for IPPs. Leaning into merchant strategies, co-locating renewable assets with energy storage projects, and investing in advanced trading and forecasting capability, IPPs can capture significant upsides from price spikes and sell into broader markets.

Download the full white paper to unpack the three main challenges and opportunities for IPPs revealed through the research.
